Following my recent participation in a group show at 45 Park Lane, London, I’m pleased to have sold my painting Neon Graffiti (For Guy Debord & The Situationist International) to a collector in Monaco.

Neon Graffiti (For Guy Debord & The Situationist International), 2015, oil and mixed media on canvas, 75cm x 100cm

The painting was based on an original piece of graffiti (trans: “Never Work”), scrawled across a wall in the Rue de Seine, Saint-Germain-des-Prés, Paris by Guy Debord, sometime in 1953. The slogan was later taken up by the student/worker movement in the May 1968 uprising. The original piece of graffiti apparently still survives in what is now a prime real estate location amongst the high-end galleries and antique dealers, and in close proximity to the Louvre, as well as the legendary Les Deux Magots and Café des Flores.

The original painting had a huge amount of interest both before and during the show, so now that the original has sold, I will put some serious thought to releasing a giclée print edition at some time in the future.

I’ve been hunkered down finishing new paintings for a group show at 45 Park Lane next month. All very last minute, as I was only approached to take part 3 weeks ago. Hence the lack of posts/updates recently.

I will be showing 4 new works, including this one:

Later in the month, I have been coaxed out of DJ semi-retirement to play some French records at the inaugural Hastings Mon Amour night. Top billing will be a screening of Truffaut’s sublime ménage à trois Jules et Jim, with my questionable DJ skills before and after.

I’m also releasing a new print edition in the coming weeks. More on that soon.

Oops, I’ve been a bit slow with the ol’ blowing-of-one’s-own-trumpet here on my website… but I can now announce that my Wells Art Contemporary winner show at 45 Park Lane – The Dorchester Collection has “officially sold out”.

Here’s some blurb from the official press-release:

30th June 2014
London – Roy Ackerman’s Tadema Studios announces that Dominic Bradnum, winner of Wells Art Contemporary (WAC) 2013, 1st prize exhibition has officially sold out at 45 Park Lane. All 20 original pieces of art were sold over the 4-week exhibition at 45 Park Lane.

Dominic’s work was purchased by two overseas buyers and will go into private collections.

45 Park Lane’s Art Curator, Roy Ackerman says,

“The fact that this young artist has sold his entire exhibition in such a short space of time is testament to his unique talent, and Dominic looks forward to procuring private commissions based on the enthusiasm shown at his sell out show”.

So, I’d say this WAC business has been good for me so far! Anyone wishing to enter this year’s competition, you can do so at the Wells Art Contemporary 2014 website until 4th September 2014.
