People keep asking me when I’m going to show some of my paintings in my adopted hometown of Worthing. The time has come…

‘In memoriam to the concrete and steel fortress of the once-proud Bed King’
neon paintings by Dominic Bradnum
Control Gallery, 7 North St, Worthing BN11 1ER
OPENING NIGHT – FRIDAY 08 JUNE – 6PM-9PM – ALL WELCOME
selected works on show throughout June 2018

As Teville Gate is reduced to rubble, I exhibit my latest paintings capturing the final days of this municipal concrete behemoth just before the heavy machinery moved in.

The paintings depict the brutalist environs as night draws in – derelict, devoid of life – a scene you probably shouldn’t enter. And yet something catches your eye: the incandescent glow of neon poetry – messages that hint at romance and obsession. Messages that may or may not have ever been there.

Control Gallery is perfectly located for showing these works: affording a view from its window of the mechanical dinosaurs as they bite and tear away at the concrete and steel fortress of the once-proud Bed King.

GREEN ROOMS – LONDON
SATURDAY 31 MARCH – 6pm-11pm – ALL WELCOME

DOMINIC BRADNUM will be showcasing a selection of new original neon paintings, alongside framed print editions at GREEN ROOMS in London’s Wood Green. Repurposed as a Berlin-style arts hotel, throughout April 2018 this former 1920s electrics showroom will buzz with Dominic’s neon emblazoned canvases and giclée prints.

Dominic’s latest works are themed around “urban romanticism”. Drawing upon the brutalist architecture and municipal functionality of multi-storey carparks, incandescent messages of romance, obsession and escapism are set among these monumental structures as vivid neon poetry.

I Think Of You And I Smile (crop)An image of my painting I Think Of You And I Smile has been included in a community project on Worthing’s 1930s Streamline Moderne pier.

My piece is one of 50 selected by Creative Waves, and on display – alongside 2 other projects ‘Appear On The Pier’ (featuring ‘selfies’ created by local school pupils) and ‘Post To The Coast’ (a postcard response project) – in the open-air galleries along the centre of the pier.
